Local
The Maritimes Independent Media Center (IMC) is focussed on providing an ongoing resource for diverse sources of information and views on a variety of subjects (Arts and Politics initially), and to promote debate within a broad context. So far, IMC-Maritimes is just a handful of volunteers and a web site, but we hope to help coordinate the resources of local organizations and volunteers to cover local events as they happen.
Our working document lists some future possibilities for IMC-Maritimes.

Global
Indymedia is a loose affiliation of local media activist groups, dedicated in various ways to democratizing media coverage, and enabling underrepresented viewpoints. The focus has been on providing coverage of major protests, but many Indymedia sites are have become local resources for local events and viewpoints in the areas that they cover. Most Independent Media Centers have a web site, and many provide equipment, journalism workshops, and other resources locally.
